Tasting Note | eRobert Parker RP/WA : 90/100 The 2009 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva Le Origini is a dense and powerful wine that shows the dark fruit ripeness that characterizes this vintage. Grapes are air-dried for 120 days before being pressed and the wine rests in large oak casks for up to 36 months. It shows broad shoulders with budding aromas of dried cherry, plum, mesquite, barbecue smoke and chewing tobacco. Wine Enthusiast WE 90/100 Ripe black-skinned fruit, chocolate and cake spice aromas pave the way for this powerfully built wine. The brawny palate doles out raisin, blackberry jam, licorice and pipe tobacco alongside firmly knit, ripe tannins. Drink 2018–2024. WS 89/100 Grilled herb and date flavors are accented by singed orange peel and spice box notes in this fresh, balanced red, which is medium- to full-bodied, and more subtle toward the zesty finish. Drink now through 2021. |
Food Match | Pairs well with game, red‐meat, Cajun cuisine, seasoned cheeses and grilled meat. |
