Tasting Note Robert Parker 92/100 This stunning, evolved, dark plum/ruby-hued 2008 reveals aromas of forest floor, sweet black and red currants, licorice and roasted herbs. Classic, elegant and medium to full-bodied, it provides a sexy, complex, intellectual as well as hedonistic turn-on. Drink this delicious Margaux over the next 12-15+ years. Tasted & Rated on 2 May 2011 Wine Spectator 87/100 Tangy and fresh, with lilac and red currant flavors laced with sweet tobacco and a lively iron note on the finish. Wine Enthusiast 93/100 - Tasted: 04-Jan-2011 Solid wine, dark, firm and powerful. The black currant fruits shear through the tannic texture, giving a wine that is juicy, fresh, structured and definitely for aging. eRobert Parker / Wine Advocate (WA) 88/100 – Neal Martin Tasted at the Brane-Cantenac vertical at the château, the 2008 Brane-Cantenac is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc. The nose is quite striking with a tang of eucalyptus, a trait that Henri Lurton himself picked up when we tasted together. The palate is medium-bodied with a peppermint-tinged entry, the tannins quite thick and perhaps lacking the precision that Henri imparts into his Margaux wine nowadays. There is something not quite true to the style of Brane-Cantenac here, mimicking something it is not, trying to be a different person. It is an enjoyable wine but I would broach this in its youth. Tasted April 2015. Jancis Robinson 16.5/20 - When to drink: 2016 to 2025 Very perfumed. Then a bit drying on the end. A bit ungainly. But there is some integrity here. Jancis Robinson tasted on 19-Jan-2012 Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider 91/100 Tobacco, cassis, earth and truffle scents open to a medium bodied, soft, elegant style of Margaux. The wine ends with a dark cherry finish. This wine will offer pleasure early. Tasted: 28-Jan-2011 Gilbert & Gaillard 93/100 Deep red. The nose deploys tones of red berry fruits over a smoky oak background. On the palate, wonderful fullness, silky, elegant substance. The finish is aromatic and lingering with a measure of restraint. A good wine for cellaring. Tasted on 29-Oct-2010 Jeannie Cho Lee 91/100 Elegant Margaux with ripeness and lightness along with lifted floral and red berry fruits. A beautiful, aromatic wine with finesse and balance. Freshness in the fruit is impressive. Tasted in: Bordeaux, France. Maturity: Young.
