| Tasting Note | eRobert Parker (eRP/WA by Neal Martin) 87-89/100 The Château Lalande-Borie 2014 is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc that will be matured for 12 months in 30% new oak. It has a slightly high-toned bouquet with small dark cherries and cold stone scents, perhaps not quite as complex as the Fourcas-Borie. The palate is medium-bodied, a little coarse on the entry although there is fine acidity. I find the tannins a little more refined on the Fourcas-Borie this year, though there is a pleasant saline tang on the finish. Perhaps it will merit a more favorable evaluation after bottling. Wine Spectator 89/100 - Vintage 2014 Fleshy and relatively open-knit in feel, with a pronounced bay and menthol lead-in to the core of warmed cassis and blackberry confiture notes. A dusting of charcoal adds texture on the finish. Best from 2019 through 2026. Jancis Robinson 16.5/20 - Vintage 2014 - When to drink: 2020 to 2030 Western St-Julien. Younger vines go into other labels such as Hortevie so it’s already a selection. 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc. 125 days' growing season. 12 months in 30% new barrels. Very interesting nose with black pepper and emphatic flowers. Notably perfumed and smooth on the palate. Tannins insist on the end. Just a little inky on the end but gorgeous upfront. A round, full-bodied red that is made up of 45% Merlot, the rest being Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. This is a wine filled with freshness.
