Tasting Note eRobert Parker / WA : 90/100, Neal Martin The 2014 Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru was affected by hail in this vintage and the domaine lost around 40% of the crop (though less than last year). Perhaps that is reflected on the nose that does not quite have the killer delineation of the domaine's premier cru Pernand-Vergelesses. The palate is vibrant and saline in the mouth, and frankly it is much better than the aromatics with a keen citrus thread of acidity and a lovely saline finish. Hopefully the nose will meliorate with bottle age... we will see. Burghound (BH) 93/100, Allen Meadows This also displays hints of mineral reduction on the cool green apple, floral, lemon zest and wet stone scents. There is terrific intensity to the relatively big-bodied yet beautifully well-defined flavors that coat the palate with dry extract on the overtly mineral-driven finale. This is a powerful CC that is very clearly built-to-age and is definitely going to need it. Quality juice. Wine Maker Tasting Note : Beautiful limpid and gold colour in its youth, which takes on amber hues with age. Its bouquet breaths exotic fruit notes with citrus and pineapple and reveals rich honey aromas, grilled almonds and cinnamon, even butter notes during preservation. Ample, fat, fresh with a long, well-balanced and mineral final, this wine has a great ageing potential. Good match with shellfishes such as lobster, spiny lobster, or foie gras.
